1. Pride

1.1 Understanding Pride: Pride is an inflated sense of one's personal status or accomplishments. It is often associated with arrogance and a lack of humility. Proverbs 16:18

1.2 The Consequences of Pride: Pride leads to disgrace and destruction. It hinders our relationship with God and others. Proverbs 18:12

1.3 Overcoming Pride: Humility is the antidote to pride. We must humble ourselves before God and acknowledge our dependence on Him. James 4:6

2. Greed

2.1 Understanding Greed: Greed is an excessive desire for wealth or possessions. It leads to selfishness and a disregard for the needs of others. Luke 12:15

2.2 The Consequences of Greed: Greed leads to sorrow, trouble, and ruin. It can cause us to stray from our faith and pierce ourselves with many griefs. 1 Timothy 6:10

2.3 Overcoming Greed: Contentment and generosity are the antidotes to greed. We must learn to be content with what we have and to share with others. Hebrews 13:5

3. Lust

3.1 Understanding Lust: Lust is an intense desire or craving for sexual pleasure. It is a distortion of the good and beautiful gift of sexuality that God has given us. Matthew 5:28

3.2 The Consequences of Lust: Lust leads to sin and death. It can destroy relationships and cause great harm to ourselves and others. James 1:15

3.3 Overcoming Lust: Self-control and purity are the antidotes to lust. We must learn to control our desires and to live in purity. Galatians 5:22-23

4. Envy

4.1 Understanding Envy: Envy is a feeling of discontent or covetousness with regard to another's advantages, success, possessions, etc. Galatians 5:26

4.2 The Consequences of Envy: Envy leads to strife and disorder. It can cause us to harbor bitterness and resentment towards others. James 3:16

4.3 Overcoming Envy: Love and contentment are the antidotes to envy. We must learn to love others and to be content with what we have. 1 Corinthians 13:4

5. Wrath

5.1 Understanding Wrath: Wrath is intense anger that is often vengeful or destructive. It is a distortion of the righteous anger that God sometimes displays. Ephesians 4:26

5.2 The Consequences of Wrath: Wrath leads to strife and conflict. It can cause us to act in ways that are harmful to ourselves and others. Proverbs 29:22

5.3 Overcoming Wrath: Patience and forgiveness are the antidotes to wrath. We must learn to be patient with others and to forgive as we have been forgiven. Colossians 3:13

6. Gluttony

6.1 Understanding Gluttony: Gluttony is an excessive indulgence in food and drink. It is a distortion of the good and beautiful gift of food that God has given us. Proverbs 23:20-21

6.2 The Consequences of Gluttony: Gluttony leads to poor health and waste. It can cause us to neglect our responsibilities and to be insensitive to the needs of others. Proverbs 28:7

6.3 Overcoming Gluttony: Self-control and contentment are the antidotes to gluttony. We must learn to control our appetites and to be content with what we have. Philippians 4:11-12

7. Sloth

7.1 Understanding Sloth: Sloth is a reluctance to work or make an effort; laziness. It is a failure to use the gifts and opportunities that God has given us. Proverbs 12:24

7.2 The Consequences of Sloth: Sloth leads to poverty and waste. It can cause us to miss out on the blessings that God has for us. Proverbs 18:9

7.3 Overcoming Sloth: Diligence and zeal are the antidotes to sloth. We must learn to work hard and to be zealous for good works. Romans 12:11
