Sermon on
Fellowship as a Command

1. Understanding the Command for Fellowship

1.1 The Biblical Mandate for Fellowship: God's word is clear about the need for Christians to engage in fellowship. This is not a suggestion, but a command from God. Hebrews 10:24-25

1.2 The Purpose of the Command: The command for fellowship is given to promote unity, mutual edification, and the spreading of the gospel. It is a means for believers to support each other and grow in their faith. Ephesians 4:11-16

2. The Importance of Obedience to the Command

2.1 Obedience as a Sign of Love for God: Obedience to God's commands, including the command for fellowship, is a sign of our love for Him. It shows our commitment to His will and His ways. John 14:15

2.2 The Consequences of Disobedience: Disobedience to the command for fellowship can lead to spiritual stagnation, isolation, and a weakened witness for Christ. It is vital for believers to heed this command for their spiritual health and growth. Hebrews 3:12-13

3. The Practice of Fellowship

3.1 Fellowship in the Local Church: The local church is the primary place where believers can practice fellowship. It provides opportunities for worship, learning, service, and mutual support. Acts 2:42-47

3.2 Fellowship in Small Groups: Small groups provide a more intimate context for fellowship. They allow believers to share their lives, pray for each other, and bear each other's burdens in a more personal way. Galatians 6:2

4. The Blessings of Fellowship

4.1 Spiritual Growth: Fellowship contributes to our spiritual growth. As we share our lives with other believers, we are challenged, encouraged, and sharpened in our faith. Proverbs 27:17

4.2 Joy and Encouragement: Fellowship brings joy and encouragement. It reminds us that we are not alone in our journey of faith, and it gives us the opportunity to rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn. Romans 12:15

4.3 Effective Witness: Fellowship enhances our witness for Christ. When the world sees the love and unity among believers, it is drawn to the gospel. John 13:35
