Sermon on
Responding to Our Physical and Spiritual Thirst

1. Understanding Our Thirst

1.1 Recognizing our physical thirst: The need for water God created our bodies to need physical sustenance, including water. Our physical thirst is a reminder of our dependence on God's provision. Genesis 1:29

1.2 Acknowledging our spiritual thirst: The need for God Just as our bodies thirst for water, our souls thirst for God. This spiritual thirst is a longing for a relationship with our Creator and a desire to be filled with His presence. Psalm 42:1-2

2. Quenching Our Thirst

2.1 Meeting our physical needs: Drinking from the well We quench our physical thirst by drinking water. Similarly, God provides for our physical needs and expects us to take care of our bodies, which are His temples. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

2.2 Satisfying our spiritual thirst: Drinking from the living water Jesus offers us living water, which quenches our spiritual thirst. When we believe in Him, we receive this living water and are filled with the Holy Spirit. John 4:13-14

3. Responding to Our Thirst

3.1 Responding to our physical thirst: Stewardship and gratitude We respond to our physical thirst by drinking water and taking care of our bodies. We should do this with gratitude, recognizing God's provision and our responsibility as stewards of His creation. 1 Timothy 4:4-5

3.2 Responding to our spiritual thirst: Faith and obedience We respond to our spiritual thirst by coming to Jesus, believing in Him, and obeying His commands. This is how we drink from the living water and experience the fullness of life in Him. John 7:37-39

4. Sharing Our Thirst

4.1 Sharing our physical thirst: Compassion and generosity We share our physical thirst by showing compassion to those who lack clean water and other basic needs. We should be generous, sharing what we have with those in need. Proverbs 19:17

4.2 Sharing our spiritual thirst: Evangelism and discipleship We share our spiritual thirst by telling others about Jesus, the living water. We should make disciples, helping others to know Him and quench their spiritual thirst. Matthew 28:19-20
