Restoration of Purpose and Direction

 

1. Understanding Our Original Purpose

1.1 Created in God's Image: We were created in God's image and likeness, and our purpose is to reflect His glory and character. Genesis 1:26-27

1.2 Stewards of Creation: God entrusted us with the care of His creation, giving us a purpose to nurture and protect the world around us. Genesis 2:15

1.3 Relationship with God: Our primary purpose is to have a relationship with God, to know Him, love Him, and serve Him. Deuteronomy 6:5

2. The Loss of Purpose and Direction

2.1 The Fall: The fall of man in the Garden of Eden led to a loss of purpose and direction, as sin separated us from God. Genesis 3:1-7

2.2 The Effects of Sin: Sin distorts our purpose and direction, leading us away from God's original design for our lives. Romans 3:23

2.3 The World's Distractions: The world offers many distractions that can lead us away from our God-given purpose and direction.  1 John 2:15-17

3. God's Plan for Restoration

3.1 The Promise of Redemption: God promised a Savior who would restore us to our original purpose and direction. Genesis 3:15

3.2 The Life of Jesus: Jesus demonstrated the restored life of purpose and direction through His life, death, and resurrection. John 14:6

3.3 The Gift of the Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit empowers us to live out our restored purpose and direction. Acts 1:8

4. Living Out Our Restored Purpose and Direction

4.1 Abiding in Christ: We live out our restored purpose and direction by abiding in Christ and allowing Him to guide our lives. John 15:4-5

4.2 Walking in the Spirit: We walk in the Spirit by daily surrendering to His leading and guidance. Galatians 5:16

4.3 Serving Others: We fulfill our restored purpose and direction by serving others in love, as Jesus did. Mark 10:45

5. The Promise of Eternal Restoration

5.1 The Hope of Heaven: Our ultimate restoration will be complete when we are with God in heaven. Revelation 21:3-4

5.2 The Resurrection of the Body: Our bodies will be restored to their original purpose and direction in the resurrection. 1 Corinthians 15:42-44

5.3 The Restoration of All Things: God promises to restore all things to their original purpose and direction. Acts 3:21
