Sermon on
Show Love

1. Understanding the Biblical Definition of Love

1.1 Love is Patient and Kind: Love is not about instant gratification or self-centered desires. It is about showing patience and kindness to others, even when it is difficult. Patience and kindness are the hallmarks of a love that is rooted in God's character. 1 Corinthians 13:4

1.2 Love Does Not Envy or Boast: True love does not envy others or boast about personal achievements. Instead, it celebrates the success of others and humbly acknowledges God's blessings. Envy and boasting are not characteristics of God's love. 1 Corinthians 13:4

1.3 Love is Not Arrogant or Rude: Love is not arrogant, nor does it behave rudely. It does not seek to elevate oneself at the expense of others. Arrogance and rudeness are contrary to the nature of God's love. 1 Corinthians 13:5

2. Demonstrating Love in Our Actions

2.1 Love is Action-Oriented: Love is not merely a feeling or an emotion; it is demonstrated through our actions. Action-oriented love is the kind of love that Jesus demonstrated throughout His life. 1 John 3:18

2.2 Love Serves Others: Love is not self-serving; it seeks to serve others. Jesus Himself came not to be served, but to serve. We are called to follow His example and serve others in love. Mark 10:45

2.3 Love Forgives: Love is forgiving. It does not hold grudges or seek revenge. Instead, it extends forgiveness, just as God has forgiven us. Forgiveness is a powerful demonstration of love. Colossians 3:13

3. Cultivating Love in Our Hearts

3.1 Love Comes from God: Love originates from God. We can only truly love others when we have experienced God's love in our own lives. God's love is the source of all genuine love. 1 John 4:7

3.2 Love is a Fruit of the Spirit: Love is a fruit of the Holy Spirit's work in our lives. As we yield to the Spirit, we will produce the fruit of love in our lives. The fruit of the Spirit is evidence of our relationship with God. Galatians 5:22

3.3 Love is a Commandment: Love is not optional for Christians; it is a commandment from Jesus Himself. We are commanded to love God and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Love is the greatest commandment. Matthew 22:37-39
