Sermon on
The Consequences of Lack of Discernment

1. Vulnerability to Deception

1.1 The Blessed Hope guarantees the ultimate triumph of God's kingdom (Revelation 11: 15) Failure to Discern Truth from Falsehood Without discernment, we are susceptible to false teachings and deception. We can easily be swayed by persuasive arguments that seem logical on the surface but are not grounded in the truth of God's Word. (Ephesians 4 14) Ephesians 4:14

1.2 Acceptance of False Prophets: Lack of discernment can lead us to accept false prophets who come in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. We may be deceived by their outward appearance and fail to recognize their true nature. Matthew 7:15

2. Poor Decision Making

2.1 Wrong Choices: Without discernment, we are likely to make poor decisions that can lead to negative consequences. We may choose the wrong path, engage in harmful behaviors, or make unwise investments of our time, energy, and resources. Proverbs 14:12

2.2 Unhealthy Relationships: Lack of discernment can lead us into unhealthy relationships. We may fail to recognize the signs of an abusive or manipulative person and become entangled in a destructive relationship. Proverbs 22:24-25

3. Spiritual Stagnation

3.1 Failure to Grow: Without discernment, we may fail to grow spiritually. We may remain immature in our faith, unable to understand the deeper truths of God's Word and apply them to our lives. Hebrews 5:14

3.2 Loss of Blessings: Lack of discernment can cause us to miss out on the blessings that God has for us. We may fail to recognize the opportunities God is giving us to grow, serve, and experience His love and grace. James 1:5

4. Damage to Witness

4.1 Compromised Testimony: Without discernment, our testimony for Christ can be compromised. We may engage in behaviors or adopt beliefs that are contrary to the gospel, causing others to stumble or question the authenticity of our faith. 1 Corinthians 8:9

4.2 Disunity in the Body of Christ: Lack of discernment can lead to disunity in the church. We may become involved in disputes over non-essential issues, causing division and strife among believers. Romans 14:1
