Sermon on
The Strength of a United Family

1. The Foundation of a United Family

1.1 The family as God's design: God designed the family as the basic unit of society. He intended for it to be a place of love, support, and unity. When families are united, they reflect God's design and bring Him glory. Genesis 2:24

1.2 The role of love in uniting a family: Love is the binding force in a family. It is patient, kind, and does not keep a record of wrongs. A family that loves each other stays united, even in the face of challenges. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

2. The Benefits of a United Family

2.1 Strength in unity: When a family is united, they are stronger. They can face challenges together and support each other in times of need. A united family is a strong family. Ecclesiastes 4:12

2.2 Peace and harmony: A united family experiences peace and harmony. Disputes and conflicts are resolved in love, leading to a peaceful and harmonious living environment. Psalm 133  1 Psalm 133:1

3. The Threats to Family Unity

3.1 Selfishness and pride: Selfishness and pride can cause disunity in a family. When family members only think about their own interests and refuse to humble themselves, it can lead to conflict and disunity. Philippians 2:3-4

3.2 Unforgiveness and bitterness: Unforgiveness and bitterness can also threaten family unity. When family members hold onto grudges and refuse to forgive, it can cause division and strife. Ephesians 4:31-32

4. Maintaining and Strengthening Family Unity

4.1 Practicing forgiveness: Forgiveness is key to maintaining and strengthening family unity. Family members should be quick to forgive each other and let go of past hurts. Colossians 3:13

4.2 Prioritizing family time: Spending quality time together can strengthen family unity. It fosters understanding, communication, and love among family members. Deuteronomy 6:6-7

4.3 Praying together: Prayer is a powerful tool for maintaining and strengthening family unity. When a family prays together, they invite God's presence and guidance into their home. Matthew 18:20
